Bits and bobs

As some may know, me and my wife are off to vegas (mgm signature in july for two weeks.

I have signed up with players club online but hotel was booked through expedia..when we check in, should we inform them of our players club membership?..even though unless we got to the players club desk before hand we wont have a card just a number?

We were intending using the monorail a lot, but from previous threads it appears it only worth it for long distances. If we used the hotels taxi rank is there anywhere a taxi wouldnt take us..ie the driver would consider it too short of a trip?

Ellis island looks likely as our breakfast hang out, now don%26#39;t jump on me with you answers to this-)

is it safe walking from rear entrance of mgm sig to ellis island, it looks about 15-20 mins walk, but id rather be a cautious vegas virgin than a target.

thanks in advance for answers

Legally, the cab HAS to take you anywhere you want to go. The cab driver cannot refuse to take you anywhere just because he feels it is too short of a ride. If one refuses- just take another one.

I have had no problems walking to Ellis Island-during the day or at night- and I am usually alone (female). Nothing bad has ever happened to me. If fact, nothing bad has ever happened to me when I was alone in Vegas- day or night, on the strip, off strip or downtown. And many of my 60+ trips have been solo trips.

Bits and bobs

It won%26#39;t matter to tell them about your player%26#39;s club when you check into the Signature, MGM won%26#39;t comp your room there. That is the only drawback to the Signature as far as I can tell.

I may be the lone ranger on this, but I think the monorail is great for distances that are shorter than the MGM to the Sahara. Give it a try and see what you think.

No problems walking to Ellis Island.

Have a great trip!

The folks checking you into your room don%26#39;t need to know whether or not you have a player%26#39;s card (unless you got a member%26#39;s only rate, which I assume you didn%26#39;t since you booked via Expedia).

The monorail makes for good transportation if you are going between places near stations. The station is pretty convienent for Signature guests, so as long as you are going somewhere near a station, it%26#39;s a decent idea.

Cabs must take you anywhere, no matter how short. That said, I%26#39;ve read several trip reports from people who were running late - or from folks wearing can%26#39;t-walk-in-them shoes, who had a cab refuse to take them to the resort next door.

The walk from Signature to Ellis Island is perfectly safe, though you actually go out the front door...

MGM..you%26#39;re not the lone ranger..I am a monorail advocate too! =)

Dracon...Ellis Island is great. Try it for dinner sometime too since you are there for 2 weeks. The BBQ place is really good (separate restaurant in there from where you get the infamous steak special).

No need to show them your Player%26#39;s Card...but do remember to pick it up and put it in the machine every time you play slots! You might be able to pick up some comps when you checkout if you play over the two week period. Also remember you can use that same player%26#39;s card if you go to Mandalay Bay, NYNY, Mirage, Treasure Island. Look on the back of the card and it will tell you which casinos it covers.

Have fun!

I forgot...one of my favorite forum stories..

our poster Stratton had a cab take him from Bally%26#39;s to Paris his first time in vegas I think! LOL...so they will take you short distances for sure! =)

Co- LOL! TF! Stratton- be especially kind to all the newbies on here, or we%26#39;ll remind you of that!

I needed a good laugh, even if it was at Stratton%26#39;s expense.

Unless you are going to only drink water with breakfast, you might as well go to MGM or Mandalay Bay buffet for breakfast,

by the time you add beverages anywhere else the price difference is small. There is a huge difference in how many fresh nice things you have to choose from
