';The Deuce'; Experiences????

My husband and I will be going to Vegas in a week and are looking for transportation options. I wasn%26#39;t impressed with the Monorail the last time. I thought it was kind of spendy....cab ride was just about the same. Anyway, who has used the Deuce and what is your experience? We would be getting on at Hooters and traveling to the Hilton or somehwere in the vacinity. Wondering how long it takes? Wait time for it to come?

';The Deuce'; Experiences????

As far as I know, the Deuce only runs on the strip and you wouldn%26#39;t be able to get on at Hooters. It is slow and oftentimes crowded or completely full. It is cheap and it beats walking. DH and I take it all the time to go downtown, but we normally just walk on the strip.

';The Deuce'; Experiences????

My wife and I took the Deuce (March 07) to downtown one day. We got on the bus at the Flamingo. I will say that this was very entertaining. A drunk got on and sat behing our friend. He licked his hand from top to bottom. The whole trip, he kept rocking back and forward like he was going to puke. Our friend finally moved as we thought he would fall on her or puke on her. It was pretty entertaining. As far as the ride it did take sometime to make it to downtown. The driver was friendly and trip was fine. We did take a taxi back to the strip because of the time it took us to make our destination. The Deuce is a great affordable option if you have the time and patience. We did enjoy visiting with tourist and locals that were riding. We probably waited 15 minutes to be picked up at the Flamingo and it probably took 45 minutes to make it downtown. It does make a lot of stops.

Nor would it stop at the Hilton, which is also off-Strip. I have ridden the Deuce many times and never had a bad experience with it, but fast, it isn%26#39;t. Wait time can vary tremendously as well.

The best way to get from Hooters to the Hilton, other than taking a cab, would be to walk across the street to the MGM Monorail station.

For Hooters to the Hilton, I%26#39;d say that if the monorail doesn%26#39;t do much for you, you%26#39;re better off with a cab. It will by far be the fastest with the least walking. The Deuce is not too bad as long as you%26#39;re boarding at one end or another, like the Trop or Circus Circus. The mid-Strip stops can be very crowded and sometimes you%26#39;ll wait 20 minutes for one very packed bus to come, not let anyone on, (only off via the rear door) followed 5 minutes later by two more buses bumper-to-bumper, one of which you might be able to squeeze onto. If you%26#39;re not in a hurry, it%26#39;s OK and beats walking if it%26#39;s really hot out. The best is to sit upstairs near the front. It%26#39;s a pretty good sightseeing trip that way.

If you want to avoid the cost of taxis, the monorail you were not impressed with, and the Deuce which can be crowded and slow at times, you could use the local city bus. From Hooters on Tropicana you could take route 201 east. Connect with route 108 North at Swenson. The 108 will take you right to the Hilton. The cost for a 24 hour pass, ride as much as you want on any bus, is $2.50. If you get a schedule and time your connections I%26#39;d guess you%26#39;d be looking at about 40-45 minutes between the 2 places. Enjoy your stay.

I looked on the Website for the Deuce and clicked on the route. It looked like it stops at both Hooters and the Hilton. I must be looking at it wrong, I will double check. Thanks for the input. If it really takes so long, I would rather spend a little more and take a cab vs. the monorail.

Looked it up:

There might be city buses that go that way, but the Deuce specifically refers to a double decker bus that runs on the strip. Maybe that%26#39;s the confusion? The city buses are fine too! :)

No, the Deuce runs on other streets, like the Flamingo 202. If you look on the website and click Deuce routes, you will find alot of them, just not on the strip.

Or I should have said not just on the strip (aka Las Vegas Blvd)
