fed up with europe and egypt

looking to take my family somewhere different this year thinking of las vegas.my daughters 19 (she%26#39;s only coming for the free trip)and my sons 16. this is the first time i ve used trip adviser for advice ,but i%26#39;d just like to know what hotel would be the most appropriate,if they would be allowed in all the hotels (and on the gaming floors)and if theres enough to keep them occupied in the nights without going to a show every night .as we re from the uk and my daughters used to going clubbing and pubing (over 18 s in the uk) would it be a little to sedate in the nights being stuck with us or are there bars/restaurants with music and plenty of life that readily accept 19 +16 year olds.

You%26#39;d probably have a great time at Caesars, Paris, Luxor or the Venetian....

In all seriousness, Vegas might not be for you. While under 21%26#39;s are allowed in the hotels, they aren%26#39;t allowed on the gaming floors, and there really isn%26#39;t much 18+ nightlife in Vegas.

Hi

If your daughter wants nightlife, don%26#39;t go to Vegas. She cannot do anything like that, I can hear the moaning and whinging already!!!!!lol

At 19, your daughter will have the same legal status as a 10 year old and won%26#39;t be allowed on a casino floor or in a bar a club.

Not much fun to someone who%26#39;s used to being able to do all these things in Europe.

Nope, they will not going to be able to go to clubs or bars that serve only liquor! They will be allowed to go through the casino but they can%26#39;t stop- they have to keep moving towards a show, restaurant, etc. If they are not going to be happy being stuck with you in restuarants, shows and attractions- they are going going to be very very miserable! They choices will be- shows, restaurants, attractions, pool (depending one when you are going),some rides and shopping.

The 19 year old is JAIL BAIT in the US.

VHB, what in the world are you talking about? 19 is not jailbait anywhere in the US that I know of. Underage for drinking and gambling, yes, but that%26#39;s not what the word ';jailbait'; means.

I don%26#39;t know when you%26#39;re going, but... There is a post about Show in the Sky now on LVA and though its scheduled to go dark in April sometime, your kids would both probably like this show, as would you, and its FREE~!

Imperial Palace has an exhibition of antique and collectible cars, which your son would like. You used to be able to get a free ticket printed online, don%26#39;t know if thats still available, but.. the tickets are only about $5, I think.

There is the water fountain show at Bellagio (free) which is repeated every hour, everyone will love this. Its set to music, and they have quite a few different shows that they do... so it can be repeated as an entertainment option. Also the conservatory is a nice place to visit at Bellagio, and its also free.

The volcano at Mirage, the King Tut exhibit at Luxor, which charges... I don%26#39;t know how much, and I%26#39;ve heard it isn%26#39;t all that much for what they charge.

And there is the Venetian, with its canals, and boats and boatmen. I think a trip on the gondolas cost about $12 per person, but that may have gone up.

I know there%26#39;s more, but thats a good start for you.

I stopped in Vegas with my 19 and 17 year old at the time(girls) last May. We were on the way back home from California and Ii think I scarred them. They both HATED IT....my 19 year old was drinking (and gambling) age here in Manitoba and she was disgusted that she couldn%26#39;t even stop on the casino floor long enough to tie her shoe.

There was really nothing for us to do in the evening after dinner other than go to a show or walk the Strip because we couldn%26#39;t go to a bar or casino. Out for a stroll in the evening (hoping to catch the TI show) we were approached by a fellow in his 50%26#39;s asking if we%26#39;d like to go ';shopping'; with him - and he didn%26#39;t really take no for an answer the first time. My 17 year old was sooo freaked out, we returned to the hotel and watched TV for the rest of the evening.

I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;ll ever get them back to Vegas, even after they turn 21! Vegas is definitely not for kids.

Since you mentioned that your daughter likes to go ';clubbing and pubbing,'; I think it%26#39;s highly likely that she%26#39;ll be bored to tears- or at least very frustrated- in Vegas.Casinos don%26#39;t allow anyone under 21 to stop and bars/clubs won%26#39;t allow her in either. Restaurants that serve liquor will let her in, but she won%26#39;t be able to drink (even from your glass), as Vegas is very, very strict.

Your son, on the other hand, may like Vegas for the shows, the pools, the displays, arcades, etc. Since he%26#39;s used to being excluded from ';adult activities,'; he won%26#39;t miss them.

Either way, Vegas is a great place with lots to do. Have fun and good luck.
