Hooters to be remodeled, renamed?

In looking for something else, I found this press release about the remodeling and rebranding of Hooters in Vegas. I must have missed any discussion on the Forum, so anyone have info or reaction? Has any decision been announced if this involves closing it for a time?

Apparently the ownership now realizes that the customers they hoped to attract were not crazy about the Hooter%26#39;s name- and I guess there are only so many bachelor parties and golf outings to draw from.

It would seem that bachelor parties were all that were there a lot of the time and that the female presence wasn%26#39;t too great. Not ideal for a bunch of testosterone fuelled guys...... :-)

Hooters is a good cheapie.

The name is dumb, but so is ';Bill%26#39;s';

Actually, the ownership changed. It is a mis-conception that this was ever truly a corporately-owned and run Hooters business. It never was. A franchisee was actually the majority owner, with Hooters corporate having a minority interest. It was recently sold to a group that wants to plow $130 mil worth of improvements to the place to make it more upscale than Hooters or San Remo were. Good luck. As the link that Blagger provided explains, that location is probably the most cursed location on or close to the Strip. It has had more name changes than Elizabeth Taylor has had husbands. So, yet another affordable place will be replaced by something aspiring to take more $$$ from tourists. I think with the way the economy is right now it%26#39;s a risky move, unless they market heavily to Europeans, who are loving our cheap Dollar at the moment.
