Just curious here....
I have only stayed at MGM properties mainly because they are always cheaper at the times I am traveling. I have players club cards for both, and use fatwallet and smartervegas for promo codes that are better than the ones I get. Yet the only Harrah%26#39;s prop that is less $$ (and only a little less) is IP for the weekend I am traveling. Seems crazy that Bally%26#39;s, Rio, Flamingo, Harrah%26#39;s be more $$ than MGM, Mirage, NYNY and Monte Carlo - doesn%26#39;t it? And Caesars is DOUBLE the rate of Bellagio too. What gives? How do they survive this way?
MGM-Mirage vs. Harrah's
I have no idea. Were you using the Harrahs.com website and using your card # ? Did you check their hot deals? It seems to me Harrahs Vegas hotels are big on mailings to guests who have stayed there. My brother is barely a gambler, stayed at Harrahs last year, and now is so excited to get a comped room for next week through the mail. We are not high rollers but can stay for free every visit. I%26#39;m not sure if that is everyone elses experience, but it is ours. Maybe they market toward returning guests.
MGM-Mirage vs. Harrah's
www.pulseofvegas has the best deals for Harrah%26#39;s properties - better than your Total Rewards offers, if you%26#39;re a low roller like me :)
I find this to be different for every trip I take. Last year I went once and stayed at Harrahs for 2 nights Sunday was $70 and Monday comped, moved to TI for 3 night for $59 a night (got comped off all except one at checkout)
This year Feb trip MGM for $69 a night and Harrahs could not compete. April Harrahs $40 a night (MGM and TI wanted $89), December Harrahs comped.
I do not think their is a method to the madness of comps or low rates. I just take what they give me and play at both of them.
