105 Bus Question

Can anyone tell me where I can catch the 105 Bus downtown and if it is a good alternative to using the Deuce? I was hoping to catch it downtown and take it up to Flamingo Road (behind Bally%26#39;s) and walk to the strip from there (hopefully avoiding the crowds and waits for the Duece). I was wondering if there were more stops near Freemont Street than just the Downtown Transportation Center?

105 Bus Question

I know there is a stop on Casino Center , the street that runs between Four Queens and the Nugget, but I don%26#39;t know if it is on that side of Fremont or further north near Binions ( perhaps it stops in both areas)- we are going Sunday (!!) and plan to check it out. We had planned to take it to the Fashion Show Mall across from the Wynn ( it stops on the side entrance on Spring Mtn Rd) as it briefly crosses the Strip). I honestly didn%26#39;t look any further than that on their route map, so can%26#39;t speak to where it stops behind Ballys. Several posters have told me it is much less crowded than Deuce- and our experience with the other city buses in Las Vegas, like the 108 , is that they are always right on schedule as they travel on roads parallel to the Strip and avoid the Strip traffic jams that plague the Deuce and often make it off schedule. So, I may be able to answer at least your question about the Fremont area stop(s) if you don%26#39;t need the info till after 3/27.

105 Bus Question

You can get the 105 along Casino Center Blvd just south of and adjacent to the Golden Nugget. From Fremont walk down Casino Center Blvd on the same side of the road as the Golden Nugget is on. You%26#39;ll soon enough see a bus stop that has 105 on it. You may have to walk a block or 2 south from Fremont, around Carson or Bridger, before you reach the bus stop. From that point make sure you get on bus 105 South. Both the 105 South and North travel in the same direction at this point. Your options for reaching the strip are then to exit the 105 where it crosses the strip by Treasure Island, or as you mentioned anywhere along Koval including Flamingo Road. If you%26#39;re going to the far South end of the strip, like Mandalay Bay, the 105 will take you directly there as it rejoins Las Vegas Blvd at Reno Ave. Enjoy your stay.

Hey, LULU, please post that info on the 105 when you get back.I would like to use it when I am in Vegas in June.I also plan on taking the 108 from the airport. Do you know where the stop for the 108 back to the airport is located.I will be at El Cortez.

Reh, thanks for the info.

You can get the 108 back to the airport on Main Street between the Plaza and Main Street Station. There is a stop in front of those train cars they have there, right across the street from Las Vegas Club / California Casinos. Enjoy

Thanks again.

Reh is correct of course about the stop going back, but did want to mention that there is a brief period in the early am when I believe the 108 does not run- it may start up sometime around 5 am ( not exact sure). I do remember that there was one time that we had very early flight out of LAS ( around 6 or 7) and did not feel the 108 would be able to get us there quite early enough. I think I am correct that the 109 does run 24 hrs and might be a possibility for you , as I believe it has a stop somewhere on Ogden , and possibly closer to the El Cortez for you.

I know Chitown has ridden it there and found it satisfactory. It takes a completely different route from the Airport than the 108, takes a few minutes longer and travels through some less attractive areas ( Chi found them interesting from a people watching standpoint though) . But it might be the better choice in both directions anyway for anyone whose destination is the El Cortez- the 109 doesn%26#39;t work for Fremont St. destinations and the walk to catch it early morning might not be completely desirable for all. So, at any rate , if you have an early am flight , double check the 108 times- we decided to shuttle that one time back to the Airport to be sure. Some complain that shuttles are undependable , but we only had problem once ,and since we were purchasing a one way ticket on the spot , we just approached the next shuttle driver who showed up from another company and he was happy to add us in for his run ( he quoted us a lower price as I%26#39;m sure he just pocketed those two unrecorded fares. I would never buy a two way shuttle ticket just for that possibility, but I would never worry about not getting back - there is always some shuttle around at any hour.

Sorry to be long winded - just wanted to be sure you knew of the service lapse on 108 in the am , so you won%26#39;t get stuck!

Lulu is correct on both points. A few details: The 108 does not run southbound between 1:30AM and 4:30AM. If you need to depart at those hours, your bus option to the airport from downtown is the 109. The 109 runs 24 hours a day. From the downtown transit center it travels East along Stewart Ave. If you were staying at the Cortez you could exit the Cortez from the door on 6th street and Ogden and walk 1 block north to Stewart. You can catch the bus right there. Be aware that there is currently a lot of construction going on in the area of 6th Street and Ogden. Dragging bags around thru there might be a bit of a hassle. Enjoy your trip.

Thank you for your help. I am going in May and will definitely give the 105 a try.
