Layover in Las Vegas

I am going to Maui in August and we have a layover in Las Vegas on the way there, and on the way back. On the way there it is only 4 hours, but on the way back it%26#39;s 7 hours. We plan on going to the strip on our 7 hour layover. We have never been there and would like to know which hotels we should see and what buffet is the best.

Layover in Las Vegas

If you have never been, I would say rent a car and go quick - you can drive between the hotels probably quicker that you can walk and valet at every place...this would afford you the most visual for your time. This is, of course, if you have never

I love to valet in Vegas - the guys are quick and it only costs you a tip usually....You can see the Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Bellagio, CP, TI, Paris, Planet Hollywood, etc. all in one day.;

Layover in Las Vegas

of course, I meant if you have never been to Vegas before,,,,,,,so much to see you can never do it all..in one visit (just IMHO)

Thankyou so much. If we do take a cab, are there any hotels close together we should have the cab drop us off at?

I would ask for center strip - Flamingo, Caesers area - there are quite a few hotels and gambling venues there as well as shopping.. I like the area alot and it is an easy walk to Fashion Show Mall, etc.

That sounds like a great plan! How about a good place to eat for dinner. Maybe a buffet?

Alli,

I am not a huge buffet fan, except amybe at breakfast or brunch...depending on the time of day you will be ther and the money you want to spend:

Margaritaville at the Flamingo

Spago at Caesers - great pizza

Cheesecake Factory at Caesers

Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay (south end)

If you want to gamble and get some comps - Wynn and get the buffet after so many points - I don%26#39;t know the exact number - maybe 50 per card...There is also Mon Ami Gabi for lunch - I have eaten there and it is great (at the Paris). I know alot of people will have other suggestions - such is the beauty of this board!

I would suggest you have the cab leave you off at Bills. It is center strip. From there you can walk to many of the more popular hotels- Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Paris, Flamingo and Harrah%26#39;s. The hotels look near to each other but they are not. It is going to take a few minutes to get from one hotel to another. If you have a 7 hour layover you won%26#39;t have all that much time on the strip. You have to be back 2 hours before your next flight. Concentrate on the casinos in this area and do not try to see too many things. The Wynn hotel is very nice but it is on the far north side of the strip and there really isn%26#39;t much to see on that section of the strip-many hotels have closed. Be aware of the fact that buffet lines can be long.

Have a great short trip to the strip!

Another thing to keep in mind is your luggage. Are you going to have to claim your luggage and re-check it, or is it going to find its own way to the next leg of your flight? If you have to claim your luggage, you can leave it at the bell stand in any hotel and reclaim it for the cost of a tip, but that is time you have to account for, also. For the time you have, you%26#39;ll only get a lick of the lollipop, but I hope you like what you see and can plan to come back for more.

Have a safe trip.

I would have the cab drop you off anywhere center strip (Bill%26#39;s is fine)..Flamingo.. I%26#39;m not sure I would even plan where I would have dinner since you%26#39;re not looking for a particular place. I%26#39;d wing it if it were me. There are so many choices along the way. You may have so much fun exploring and wandering. When you get hungry, wherever you are, stop and grab a bite. You don%26#39;t want to be down by ';X'; having a blast, then have to walk all the way back to ';y'; just to have a buffet.

People here can recommend some quick places to get a meal if you%26#39;re interested in that - depending on where you are when you want to eat. Then you can keep a list with you (or in your head) and if you%26#39;re near it, can stop.

What time of day is your layover?

Sounds like a great vacation!!!! Maui and a few hours in Vegas (too bad you can%26#39;t have more time in Vegas, but I%26#39;m going to bet it%26#39;ll make you want to come back for more!)

We arrive in Vegas at about 3:30pm and leave at about 11:45 pm. I%26#39;ve been wanting to go for a longtime, and I think when my fiance sees how much fun it is we%26#39;ll be going back soon.
