Griffin and Beauty Bar

Can anyone tell me anything about either of these bars? Or about the area they%26#39;re located. I *thought* I read that they were in a two block area off Fremont. If we cabbed from the Strip to Fremont one night what%26#39;s the pedestrian route to get to this particular area, if an area even exists. I had heard it%26#39;s a redone area that%26#39;s home to a few restaurants and bars.

What I%26#39;ve read/heard makes me think that our group would enjoy these places. Was hoping I could get some more personal reviews here though.

Thanks.

Get yourself under the magical canopy on Fremont street. Look both ways. In 1 direction at the very end of the canopy you%26#39;ll see the Plaza hotel. Turn around and walk in the opposite direction. As you%26#39;re walking you%26#39;ll soon notice a Walgreens on your right. If you look up you%26#39;ll see you%26#39;re just about to leave the protection of the magical canopy as you%26#39;re at the end of it. Be brave. Keep walking. After 1 more block you%26#39;ll reach the intersection of Fremont and Las Vegas Blvd. On your left you%26#39;ll probably see a bunch of people waiting for the Deuce bus to take them back to the safety of the strip. Position yourself on the same side of Fremont street where you saw the Walgreens. Take a deep breath, wait for the walk sign to appear and cross Las Vegas Blvd. You can do this. Walk just a few feet further. You%26#39;ll see the Griffin appear on your right. Go inside. I%26#39;m guesing you%26#39;ll like the place you find. The Beauty bar is just past the Griffin. Enjoy your stay.

Well said REH.

You might want to look at this review.

I never seem to see much activity at either of these spots when we are in that area during the week- I understand they may get quite lively on Friday and Saturday nights with locals. You can easily spot them both from the Neonopolis area of Fremont St- they are across the street on Fremont and about halfway down the block - not quite as far as the El Cortez.

Just so you know denacvb, there are a few who believe that just outside that canopy, there are evil doers looking to kill or worse for your money when the truth is, the worst you may find is a homeless person or two. Being from the Beach, you%26#39;ve probably seen much worse there or in Norfolk or Richmond.

When you are done at BB and Griffen, take a short walk further east (away from the magical canopy) and cross the street to the El Cortez. It%26#39;s a very old school joint that will have you thinking you%26#39;ll run into the Rat Pack.

one of many reviews

Since you%26#39;re considering checking out downtown bars away from the canopy let me also suggest you pop into the downtown cocktail room. Using the same directions as I gave you earlier, just before you cross Las Vegas Blvd look across the street and slightly south or to your right. You%26#39;ll see a red sign that simply reads ';downtown';. Go over to that sign. Look carefully to find the door. Go inside and enjoy.

I have never had any trouble in the mystical lands outside of the magical canopy and believe me I have looked.

As you go further east of the El Cortez you will find

Thanks for all the responses and links. I can%26#39;t wait to explore.

Ahhh, the Westren..... We had our first experience there courtesy of a wonderful Dive bar tour headed by Mr.Chitown himself. The Atomic was equally as enchanting!! Like previous posters have said, Go; experience the magic that lies beyond the canopy- We did, lived to tell about it, and plan on visiting again.
