TR March 6-10

I will try to keep this TR as short as possible……but that will be difficult for me since I like to talk so much! LOL!

Sorry, LOW...it%26#39;s a one-shot TR......just take plenty of breaks............

Here we go:

Thursday, March 6th…..

Arrived at McCarran and got in limo. My “usual” driver did not pick us up, and the guy that DID pick us up was kinda grumpy. He said he was ready to retire…..didn’t like the traffic, yadda yadda yadda. Yes, he needs to retire!

Checked into Paris, room #28098P……Awesome room newly remodeled…….gorgeous, breathtaking view! There was a knock on the door, and my host had sent us two “Paris monogrammed” robes %26amp; slippers….awwwwww…..how sweet! I will thank him tonight when we meet later.

I was still trying to recover from the “bug” that bit me, and taking Tamiflu, and Theraflu…..and just not quite up to par, but I’m in VEGAS so I went down to play. Bad idea. Every machine that I went to that usually “rewards” me was cold, cold, cold. I went through my “play money” so fast it wasn’t even funny! I couldn’t even win any recycle money……..so……DH and I decided to just walk the strip awhile. We watched a fountain show, and took some pictures and walked. We decided we were hungry, so went to the Café’ at Paris….I always love their Cobb salads, so that is what I ordered. Not so good….the lettuce was brown, and chunky. It was like they took the “core” of the lettuce, and just cut it up and piled it on my plate…….they covered it up with all the yummy bacon, egg, cheese, etc. but when I took my first bite it was evident that the salad was way below par. My DH had the turkey-burger and liked it……..

I was supposed to meet my host between 8 and midnight at the Diamond check-in at Bally’s…..so……we decide to go play at Bally’s until time to meet him. This is where things get blurry…..the cocktail waitress kept bringing me margaritas….and after a while my world started spinning………I told DH that I needed to go rest for just a bit……OOPS! We went to the room and the next thing I know is it’s 3:30am and I had slept right through meeting my host! I called for his voice mail, and his message said he was out of the office until March 11th…….one day after we’ve left. DARN! I apologized in my message to him.

OK…..I’ve been up since 3:30am…….I can’t go back to sleep so down to Bolognies for pastries and coffee! I LOVE that place! Their cheese kolachie’s are to die for! Went to some of my favorite machines to see if my luck had changed overnight, and well….it hadn’t. SO……………back up to the room to wake up my DH and start the day! We decided to do the buffet at Harrah’s…….it was pretty good…….I had decided that since today is March 7th……(exactly SEVEN YEARS from when my daddy passed away)….I would only play 777 machines all day! I had to go to the ladies’ room and it is up the escalators…on my way I saw a flaming 7 machine that called me. I put $20 in and THANK GOODNESS hit 777 for $200! Maybe my luck was finally changing………..

We decided we would see Legends tonight, so went to IP to get vouchers……wow…….I hadn’t been in IP in YEARS……it has not changed at all! HET really needs to update that place! We went down the strip to Palazzo…..WOW! That’s all I can say…..WOW! It is amazing! I tried my luck at a 777 machine there and cashed out “up” $300! Maybe my luck really was turning around! I’m feeling a bit more confident…..we walked around and took lots of pictures……I will post them as soon as DH puts them on the computer…….

We then went to the Wynn and signed up for the red card…….got our points for two buffets each………Thank you, forum, for that info. I would never have known about the buffets! We didn’t eat there yet, because we were still not hungry from Harrah’s buffet. So, we headed back outside to the strip…….

Not too much going on today except walking the strip and picture taking.

We went to the Diamond Lounge at CAESAR’S and I have found a new “favorite” drink…..chocolate Martini!!! YUM!!! They use the Godiva liquor and wow is it smooth!!!!

Went to see Legends at the 9:30 show…..it was GREAT! The show would have been worth paying for even if it hadn’t been free! The “celebs” that we saw that night were Jay Leno, Madonna, Barry White, Dolly Parton, and of course Elvis! They were amazing impersonators! I highly recommend it!

Back to Paris to play some, and just didn’t have luck this time at Paris………..*sigh*.

Saturday, March 8, 2008:

Today we check out of Paris and into Flamingo. SO….we went down to Bolognies for our pastries and coffee. We had a late check-out at Paris, so we walked to Flamingo to try to check in before we dragged all our luggage around. Our assigned room wasn’t ready yet, so we walked back to Paris, and packed up. Got a TAXI and checked our luggage at Flamingo. We went to Diamond lounge for a light lunch…..I just LOVE their hot-dogs! Had to wait until 1:30 to get into the room….but it was worth the wait……we were room 28028…….great GO room with spectacular view of fountains/strip…….and NO Toni Braxton screen!! Yessssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!  We walked from Flamingo to Hooter’s to try our luck at the “free” $100 slot play…..what a joke! Yes, you get $100, but it has to be on certain “roped off” machines, and you play until you reach $0…..or a jackpot. No other choice….you either get $1,000 for a jackpot, or $0. Needless to say, my $100 was gone in about 1 minute……I didn’t even hit a cherry!!

We walked over to MGM to try our luck there……..I went immediately to the Majestic Lions……..put in $100…….nothing. Then I remembered I had some “free play” that I had accumulated, so I put in another $100 to activate the free-play……..They let you choose how much money you want to take out of your “free play” account, so I chose $60 and began to use the casino’s money…….FINALLY I got three “mixed” lions for $300…..but it basically cost me $260 to get it! LOL…….LOW….those lions were hungry for my money this time! Seems like that was the mood of my whole trip this time……….the machines were hungry hungry hungry!

This afternoon turned out to be extremely windy! We walked to Fashion Show mall to get discount tickets for Madame Tusseau’s Wax museum, and almost got blown off our feet…..literally! We were crunching on sand and no telling what else……eeeeeuuuuuwwwwww! The construction on the new wing of the Wynn had copper window screens flying all over the place! The wind got so bad they actually closed the airport! (Now that MUST be windy!) So……we decided to go into the Wynn to eat the buffets that we had earned…..then go to the Wax museum. We were supposed to meet CO and Spike @ 6:00pm. The line to the buffet was so long I called CO and told her 6:30 would probably be better for us. She was fine with that, so we ate our buffet! YUM! That’s all I can say! YUM!!! Probably the best buffet I’ve had in Vegas. (Paris comes in a close second now.) They had “pre split” crab legs…all you had to do was literally pull the meat out of the leg…….ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh……..life is good! We were stuffed when we left, but didn’t have time to go to the Wax museum….we had taken too long at the buffet!

We picked up our tickets for Vinnie Favorito, and then headed to Paris to the Diamond lounge to meet CO and Spike!

We had so much fun visiting and getting to know each other better…….CO ordered my first shot and we all did Kamakazi’s together! *hic*

After a few chocolate martini’s, CO and I decided to go post on the forum. We sat down at the computer and I typed a great post telling about how much fun we were having, etc. I guess I didn’t sign in or something, because the post never showed up! My bad.

After a wonderful visit, CO and Spike had to go, they were supposed to meet vegasvarmet downtown….so….we said our good-by’s. DH and I went back to Flamingo to freshen-up for Vinnie.

OMG! Vinnie Favorito is SOOOOOOOOO funny! I laughed until I cried! He picks on people in the audience, and I was one of the “lucky” (NOT) ones that he gave grief to! I didn’t mind…..it was all in fun!!!

We left the show and decided to go back to Flamingo to try our luck at the machines. Wishful thinking. No luck for me, so……….there’s always tomorrow……………

What a beautiful morning! We went down to the pool at Flamingo. WOW! It was packed! The sun was shining, and it was @ 72*……just perfect!

Since we never made it to the Wax Museum yesterday, we decided to go there today………that place is amazing! We took pictures with all the wax figures. I highly recommend going if you’ve never been. Be sure and go to TIX4 Tonight, or ½ price Tickets, as they have discounted tickets!

We had two free passes to the Eiffel tower, and DH (being a photographer) wanted to be up there during sunset. SO…..off to the Eiffel tower we went! When we got there @ 5:30 we realized that the time had changed, and now it wouldn’t get dark for another hour…..what to do? What to do? We went to the Diamond lounge for chocolate martini’s and to get our boarding passes……….

The Eiffel tower was beautiful being up there at sunset….DH took fabulous pictures……

We also had two free tickets to be “in” the RIO Carnivale Parade Show…..so….after we did the Eiffel tower, we took the shuttle to the RIO. There were two spots available at the 9:30pm show, so we went up to the RIO diamond lounge while we waited. Their chocolate martini was NOT like Caesar’s or Paris……..go figure. I decided to go down to the high limit area to try my luck at this pinball machine. I put in $100 and did get to play “pinball” and “won” 60 credits. ($300) But, considering how much I had been LOSING this trip, the $300 barely scratched the surface. I cashed out immediately and left high limit.

We had a BLAST being in the show in the sky. Everyone was so nice, but they won’t let you take pictures…….they say it’s an insurance thing……go figure. So, we beat on a tambourine and just enjoyed the ride. OMG…the things I do in Vegas! LOL.

After the show, we decided to go back to Paris…….at MIDNIGHT they start “reward points”. If you’re Platinum you get one point for every point you earn. If you’re Diamond, you get two points for every point earned. Well….I needed all the points I could get this trip…..again……I haven’t been able to recycle much…at all!

I went to a “Wild Party” 7’s machine and FORTUNATELY hit the $500………YEA! But that was about all……BOO! We decided to call it a night, and try again tomorrow….

Our last day in paradise. *tear* I always hate to wake up on that last morning….it’s so depressing. We got an extended check-out, so we went down to the pool again to grab a few “last rays” of sun. We had saved our last two free Wynn Buffets for today’s lunch, so when we checked out, we stored our luggage and walked down to the Wynn. The lunch buffet was still great, but didn’t have the pre-split crab legs…..drats. However, they had the BEST (and I’m from Texas, and I mean BEST) guacamole that I’ve EVER put in my mouth!! YUM!!! We enjoyed our last day in Vegas, and then I remembered that I had not “swiped” my card at Bally’s/Paris to “activate” the bonus points…so we walked down to Paris and I took care of that little chore. I decided to try my luck at a top dollar machine……wouldn’t you know it, it was being VERY nice to me…..it would let me play “top dollar” quite often……ahhhhhhhh……just like the good old days! I was in my “happy place” again……until DH came and brought me back to reality…..it was time to get to Flamingo, grab our luggage, and head to the airport. *sigh* That “feeling” had come back for the first time this whole trip, and it was time to leave! I’m thinking that the Tamiflu, and the Theraflu had something to do with it………..call me crazy, but there truly is a “feeling” that I get, and it just hadn’t been there this trip……until literally the last hour.

We had an “uneventful” flight home (even with the SWA safety problems) and arrived @ midnight Texas time.

Back to reality………..until next time!

OH! How could I forget this? As we were walking CO and Spike out, I asked CO if she wanted to see ';my'; diamond machine in the Champagne room at Paris. She said sure so DH, Spike, CO and I went to THE machine. I put in $100 and started playing. Guess I had a couple of chocolate martini%26#39;s because I accidently started hitting MAX BET instead of SPIN....Spike mentioned to me the fact that I was spinning @ $25 a spin!! OMG! I had not even realised I was doing that. FORTUNATELY I got to play the bonus round, and cashed out a little over $100....WHEW! That was a close one! We all had a good laugh over that!

I can%26#39;t wait until JUNE!!!!!

JackTarlover: They are called reward multiplier days. It is offered on certain days at certain properties for Plat. and Diamond and 7* players. The next one is March 26th at Caesars. If you are a Plat. you get one extra point for each point you earn on that day. (midnight to midnight) If you are Diamond you get TWO extra points for each point. Check Harrahs.com for the upcoming multiplier days.......I just happened to be there during Bally%26#39;s/Paris multiplier day on March 10.

Shrink.....yeah, I wouldn%26#39;t let being sick stop me from going to Vegas....it%26#39;s just now I%26#39;ve spent a big ';chunk'; of my Vegas ';stash';, and won%26#39;t have much to go back with in June. Maybe I%26#39;ll do good at our Mini Mega in Shreeveport in April.........
