Still debating , have narrowed down to Luxor $409 for 4 nights for a Pyramid Deluxe Room or Excalibur $444 for 4 nights for a Widescreen room with a View of Strip - any advice?
Luxor or ExcaliburMy wife fell in love with the Luxor. I think you%26#39;ll find more families with children at Excalibur than at Luxor. We didn%26#39;t stay at either but like I said my wife really liked the Luxor as far as the public areas go.
Luxor or ExcaliburLuxor. Purely a personal opinion. Even though the refurbished Excalibur rooms are supposed to be pretty nice, I couldn%26#39;t bring myself to stay there.
I think the Excalibur room at that price is a better deal. Also, Excal has a newly expanded pool area.
Luxor is the nicer of the two choices. The only advantage to your choice at Excalibur is that the room is newly renovated. The pyramid rooms at Luxor are scheduled to be renovated next year. However, I stayed in a pyramid room last year and had no complaints. For me, I would not pay the extra to stay at Excal over Luxor. Much of Luxor has been renovated and is much more appealing to the eye than Excal.
I would choose the Luxor.
The widescreen rooms at Excalibur are way nicer than the pyramid rooms at Luxor and with a strip view, I would definitely pick Ex over Luxor. I like the casino better at Excalibur and the Ex is not smelly and dirty, overrun with kids as others would lead you to believe nor is it any smokier than most other casinos (especially Harrahs, could not stay in Harrahs 5 min because of the smoke). The only thing I advise is not to eat the buffet. Take the tram to MB or go to the spice market buffet at PH.
Wherever you stay, have a wonderful trip.
Holgater- For you and your family the Excalibur would be a good choice. Better location, nice newer room, new pool, etc. I would book something now direct with the hotel, and keep checking promos before your trip in August. I believe there will be better deals, but I would lock in with something reasonable now.
The last 75 reviews for Luxor are stomach turning.
Once Luxor finishes renovating their casino, dining, and pool and then renovates the rooms early next year then Luxor will be a nice place again. It used to be a favorite of mine from 1993-2000.
Stay at MGM Grand, TI, or NYNY(Park Ave. rroms), if you want a nicer place than Excalibur for not that much money.
We stayed at Luxor last summer and I can%26#39;t say I%26#39;d stay there again. I just didn%26#39;t care for the inclinator system or the layout of the hotel in general. Our stay was fine though, the room was nice/clean and I enjoyed the pool area.
We only walked through Excalibur so I don%26#39;t know about the rooms...I just remember it being packed with kids.
