I am booked at the Monte Carlo arriving this Thursday 3/13/08 and have a complimentary Monaco Suite for 4 nights. I have not stayed at the M/C in about 5 years. NY NY has been the place I stayed the most.
I am hearing that there is so much noise not that I stay in the room that much but can anyone update me. I am also hearing lots of horrible story%26#39;s that the employees are rude, food not good, is the Blackstone Steak House not open any more? I am just looking for some feed back from someone that has stayed at the Monte Carlo in the past 3 months. Including AFTER the fire. OK let me hear the good and bad!
Thanks!
Monte Carlo (Should I Cancel)
My friend%26#39;s parents just finished a stay at Monte Carlo this weekend. They had a regular room. They were pleased with the property and reported absolutely no problems with noise in their room.
If you are concerned about noise, when you check in simply ask for a room that is far away from the construction and they should be able to accommodate you.
Monte Carlo (Should I Cancel)
got back 2 days ago cant even tell the hotel had a fire--didnt stay in a room hope that helps
I was concerned about this too - we%26#39;re booked march 17-21st, and i kept finding bad reviews online! However, it seems that about 1/2 reviews say there is construction noise, and the other 1/2 say it was perfectly fine, so it seems kind of hit-or-miss. However, the people that did say it was noisy seemed to be able to switch to a room at the other side of the hotel. So, I%26#39;m hoping thats%26#39; what we can do too if it IS noisy! I found a promo code for $99/night so I felt like I couldn%26#39;t pass up that kind of deal for a strip hotel that seems decent and is in a really good location.
badgerKEG,
Looks like we are going to be okay for our visit, towards the end of the week.
I sent my casino host an e-mail about the room and locations and noise, she said she would put us in the Monaco Suite high floor looking out towards the strip. She said it is not as noise as last year.
The Blackstone%26#39;s Steakhouse is closed they are opening a new one called Brand at the end of April. Blackstone%26#39;s was on of my favorites but I do love the Gallagher%26#39;s Steakhouse at New York New York, next door I am sure you can charge to your room since they both MGM Properties.
You will be fine at the MC.W e stayed there in Nov and Jan and had no issues at all with the noise. We were on the 32nd floor as we usually are, but unfortunately that floor is no longer available since the fire. We are returning in June again and I%26#39;m not worried at all. It is doubtful that the 32nd floor will be ready(my host informed me that they are redoing the floors from the top down-waiting for an approval on room design modeled after another MGM property outside of Nevada) and they will work their way down.
Just ask for a room away from the major construction-
AS for Blackstone%26#39;s -we loved dining there also, but the new restaurant(we were told it will be called ';Hide';) should be nice also.it is slated to be a bit more upscale(I thought Blackstone%26#39;s was fine in that regard)
As for the employees-in our 16 visits there since 2000, we have never encountered an employee who was rude or unprofessional; from check-in to housekeeping-although we were disappointed in waiter service at one meal last visit, but that could happen anywhere and all of our other meals were fine and the service was wonderful.
Good luck! Jan
Yes I never had problem at the Monte Carlo before, but it has been about 5 years since we stayed with them. As I remember everyone was quite friendly and it is easy for me to find hubby at the crap tables. We got hooked on NY NY for the past few years and also stayed at the Flamingo Suites too, which we like.
We had an invitation to the Super Bowl event at the Monte Carlo but ended up canceling after the fire. I think thing we will be fine, and I feel better now that I have told my casino host that I appreciate her offering the suite with a high floor and facing the strip. I will try to update you next week when we return.
OK back from Las Vegas and the stay at Monte Carlo. Flight was 30 minutes late arriving into Vegas, for some reason they couldn%26#39;t get the door open on the plane so another 30 minutes waiting inside the plane. Arrive and luggage was already there so off to get the rental car with Hertz.
Probably most of you all know that the car rental is not on site at the airport you take a bus and all car rentals are in the same location now. It took 8 buses before we could get on one, I started to get out of line and just grab a cab but had booked thru www.priceline.com for the car and had a great deal was afraid that I would lose the car if I didn%26#39;t pick it up. Got to the car rental building and there was over a 2 hour wait to get the car, I called the Hertz number that was on my confirmation sheet and told them I was going to wait and pick up next day no way was I standing in that line at 12:30 am.... So back on the bus to the airport to grab a cab to Monte Carlo, had planned to gamble for a bit but by the time we reach the room we decided to go to bed and get up early.
OK we are VIP%26#39;s with MGM properties, it%26#39;s now 1:00 AM and we are just checking in, the young girl at the counter tells me here%26#39;s your room and so and so, I said I am suppose to be on a high floor in a suite, she says no your in a regular room, I told her no to get a casino host but of course no one was available. She finally did find someone above her level (she called him a suit)...... She then gave us the Monaco Suite on the 14th floor but said she was charging our credit card for the extra upgrade for a suite and that I could talk with my casino host the next day... My husband was furious.... We went to the room it was ok, rooms to me are run down but it was a large room and was fine for the stay, heard that the top 4 floors are closed they are remodeling the rooms, they had planned to do this starting in 2009 but since the fire they have decided to go ahead and do it now. Also there was NO Noise at all.
Woke up early the next morning and went to see the host, if you have been at the Monte Carlo before you know they have a VIP lounge when you come into lobby, that is usually where we have always checked in but of course it wasn%26#39;t open at 1:00 am. We went into the lounge first to ask for the casino host (which is in a separate area) I got me a cup of coffee while my husband was talking to the girl, she ask me what room I was in and apparently looked it up and said I was not a VIP and I shouldn%26#39;t be in there drinking THEIR COFFEE OK husband is very mad now and told the girl to get a casino host now that he was just about ready to check out of the hotel. We ask to talk to our casino host, found out she was not going to be in for the day but we spoke to another casino host she was a very nice lady, she apologized for what happen to us and said that the suite was comp%26#39;d for the stay and that she would make sure that the payment posted on the credit card was taken off that the girl had put on our credit card when we checked in, plus I told her about the girl being so rude to me about the coffee, she said I was more than welcome in the VIP lounge, but I never went back.
OK off to get the car only waited about 5 minutes. We headed back to the Monte Carlo to gamble the employees in the casino were very nice, and so was the casino marketing people as I said too were very nice. Our casino host called Saturday afternoon to the room to check on us, we told her we were ok and thanks for the invite, she said if we had any more problems to let her know and she also apologized for all that had happened to us.
My husband was playing in a baseball tournament this past weekend, so on Sunday it was very cold and windy and had rain the night before, I stayed back at the hotel and went to the spa, the spa is nice and had a great massage.
We only ordered room service which was good but ate in the Buffet two times and I thought the food was not good at all. Our casino host pick up all the services except for the 2 movies we rented and also they do not comp Spa Services anymore, all in all everything was ok, but I don%26#39;t think I will be going back to the Monte Carlo until they remodel and not even sure then.
