If you take the monorail from Flamingo toward Downtown and get off last stop, how far to walk to Fremont St? Safe?
Downtown From Last Monorail stop?
I would not do it, but for cheap or free (I think just cheap) you then take a bus right off of the last monorail station which takes you directly to Fremont Street. Take that. For us, we weren%26#39;t scared too much, but if I had to wait out there for the bus by myself or get dropped off by myself and back up the monorail station I might feel a little scared.
Downtown From Last Monorail stop?
Please, do not try to walk from the Strip to downtown. You can take the monorail as far as the Sahara and then you can walk to the Strip, where you can catch the Deuce going downtown. Even this I don%26#39;t recommend doing alone if you are female. Not to be sexist, but the area between the Strip and downtown is very run down with a lot of shady characters. I%26#39;m a decent-sized guy who has lived in Chicago his entire life and the thought of riding through there alone does nothing for me. And if it%26#39;s at night, forget it, rent a car or take a cab. You%26#39;ll thank me when you get back to BC alive and healthy!
I%26#39;m guessing it%26#39;s 2+ miles maybe? And as already noted, it%26#39;s not a safe walk.
It%26#39;s almost exactly 2 miles from Sahara to Fremont St. The walk goes through neighborhoods that are run down, but aren%26#39;t really high crime. I wouldn%26#39;t call it a dangerous walk, not during the day at least, but many folks might feel unsafe.
The better option is probably the CAT 108 bus which connects the two - it%26#39;s a separate fare.
This brings up a good question. Deuce vs. 108 to get from the Sahara to downtown and vice versa.
Opinions?
Just fyi
The deuce runs down the entire strip from Mandalay Bay to downtown. If you are staying at Flamingo just jump on the deuce right out front it will take you downtown.
$5.00 for a 24 hour pass or $2 each way.
Thanks everyone- The Deuce sounds like a good bet or even a cab if it%26#39;s just one trip downtown and back.
I would just take the cab in the future, so that is what I suggest to you. If there are two people, two deuce passes and a monorail pass add up,,, and are a bit of a hassle. It is a money saver sometimes, especially by yourself, but it is not a time saver. A quick cab ride downtown and from one door to the next is a very nice convenience.
But, the closest bus is the 108. You don%26#39;t even have to go inside the Sahara from that monorail stop, you go down the stairs, and see the 108 sign.
