Vegas v Venice

Just an observation but what is it about Vegas that makes us love it so?We go in August having been last year and had the time of our lives. We also go to Venice in 3 weeks but Venice TA sight is nothing like Vegas one!

Vegas v Venice

Sorry-before you all shout at me I just realised it should be site not sight!

Vegas v Venice

it%26#39;s absurd to compare Vegas to Venice, as your title suggests, but then the bosy of your post doesn%26#39;t.

so what if one TA forums is more active than the other? Has no bearing on what the cities are like

what makes us love LV so much? Many things - different for all people, if you really want to know what some think on this do a search - the Q is asked often

Venice is a delightfully small(and expensive) city. Many cruise ships stop there for a day. There is not a whole lot of nightlife going on. Sure you can see some shows or plays- but you have to understand Italian in order to enjoy them (unlike Vegas). You don%26#39;t have the casinos(there is only one), shows, shopping opportunities, spas, attractions (although there many many in Venice)in Venice that you do in Vegas. If you follow the Venice forum you will see that there are only 2 or 3 people who go there regularly-unlike this forum where there are hundreds who go back year after year after year. Also- you don%26#39;t have that many people making ';friends'; with other postsers on the forum. It is much more cut and dry. I did follow it for a while- but it just isn%26#39;t that intersting.

Having said all that- Venice is a fantastic city. They actually have water under the Rialto Bridge- unlike the one in Vegas!! Be sure to have an Aperol spritz- so refreshing!

Bridgefan-Chill out-I was just making an observation.I know you can%26#39;t realistically compare the 2 cities.I think it%26#39;s great that the Vegas Forum is so relaxed and good fun.Don%26#39;t take yourself or life so seriously-that%26#39;s what Vegas is all about!

The bottom line is-there are just not as many things (hotels, attractions, transportation, restauants, shows, etc.) to talk about on the Venice forum as there are here! Also- people aren%26#39;t as passionate about their Venice trips as their Vegas trips. Nobody bashes other posters for asking about bringing children to Venice, smoking or any of the other subject that annoys people here! That is what makes this forum so interesting and so much fun (usually!). And you won%26#39;t get as much great advice on that forum!

My thoughts exactly.I%26#39;m sure we will have a great time in Venice but Vegas is really special and has to be experienced to be believed. The Venice site is helpful but a lot %26#39;drier%26#39; whereas I get the impression that the Vegas posters are much more fun!

Venice is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to EVER. I dream about going back -- to learn more about the culture, the history etc. It%26#39;s like a step back in time (if you can close ur eyes and imagine that there aren%26#39;t a zillion tourists all over the place), whereas Vegas is somethign completely different -- not really about history and culture and narrow side-streets and alleyways.

Having said that, i haven%26#39;t really been to Vegas, so I guess I should shut up. Though my parents have been going to Vegas 3-4 times a year since I was 8 or 9 (I%26#39;m now 23), so I%26#39;m just going by what I%26#39;ve heard, strictly....

Venice is old, cultural, expensive, and squishy

Vegas is new, faux, cheap, and dry

You will have a wonderful time in Venice! It is one of the most amazing places in the world. There is a little gelato stand right off the Piazza San Marco (near the Campanile) and they have the best chocolate gelato I have ever tasted. I also had a blast feeding the pigeons (I know some people are grossed out by that, but I screamed and laughed the whole time). Also, make sure to get a little lost in the back streets. You can find romantic little nooks and crannies of the city that are practically deserted.

Thanks.Looking forward to Venice now.Any other tips?
