Helicopter tour of Grand Canyon worth it?

I have a question about helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon. We%26#39;re heading to Vegas in October with friends from the UK. They have never been to Vegas or GC but we did both last summer. From what I%26#39;ve read, do all of them go to the West Rim? Is it worth it for someone who just did the South Rim and the Hoover Dam last summer? Will my friends like it? We%26#39;re only staying 4 nights and I don%26#39;t want to waste time or money on something that may not be that great compared to what we%26#39;ve already seen. Thanks!!

If it is something they really want to see, it may be worth it. I just think if you only have 4 nights in Vegas together there is so much else for all of you to fill your time with.

I would say this is a personal decision and you should not go by what everyone tells you to do. You have done the tour of the Grand Canyon before so do you think your friends would like it ? if so then i don%26#39;t think it would be a waste of time.

I have a trip planned in June and made reservations to go on a plane tour to the west rim and the skywalk. I have had several people on here say '; oh don%26#39;t go there '; but it%26#39;s like this .. this whole trip is a surprise to my wife for our 10-year Anniversary and about a year ago when the skywalk first opened they showed it on CNN and my wife had a fit and said she would love to walk on it so ... bottom line is i think we will enjoy it and it%26#39;s something we want to do, who cares if not everyone else wants to do it.

Do what you think is best, do what you know you%26#39;d like and what your friends would like

Hi DMMM - we are in a similar position to you.

We did the South Rim plane trip last year. We figured that as it was probably the one and only time we would see the Grand Canyon we wanted to see it at it%26#39;s widest and deepest and most spectacular.

However, we have decided to re-visit LV this year and we are taking our friends with us. Although they will want to see the GC I don%26#39;t think they will be too concerned about which bit of it they see so this time we are going to do the West Rim by helicopter.

We are treating it as a completely different trip to the one we did last year as we will be doing the descent down into the canyon.

I should have been more clear! We stayed at the South Rim for 2 days last summer and saw the Hoover Dam on our drive to Vegas. I was hoping for an opinion from someone who has seen the South Rim at ground level and done a helicopter tour so I can decide if it is worthwhile.
